This was interesting how it talked about how literacy emerges for the children and how they develop at their own pace and start at one level and work their way up. I liked the examples of activities that can be used in a classroom setting and feel that they would be beneficial to young children. It think that it is important for us to build these skills along with the child and at their pace. As they become more fluent we are able to build on their skills and prior knowledge to assist them in their efforts. I feel that guided reading times will be beneficial to the children in our classrooms and they will again be encouraged to build on their skills and work at their own individual pace.
